Well I'm back at work for a few days now until New Years Eve.
Our Christmas was great, much more relaxed than in past years as we only went to three gatherings instead of our usual six. We were able to bring our dogs with us to both mine and my hubby's parents. Which makes the house slightly more full but it allows us to stay longer as we don't have to get home to let them out of their crate.
All of the gifts I made were appreciated. The green striped mitts and hat from the previous post were especially appreciated by my SIL. My mother also really liked her apron (which I have pictures of now so I will have to post them soon), so all in all I would say it was a success. I already have more ideas for next Christmas.
I had let my parents know that I was doing some sewing and needed some more supplies so Mom got me a rotary cutter and mat and pinking shears, all of which were needed. She also got me some paper crafting supplies. I'm looking forward to using it all.
I think I will start by making a card for the wedding we are going to on New Years Eve.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday and I'm wishing you all the best for the New Year!
More posts and pictures soon.

A few Projects
So I thought I would post a few of the projects I've worked on in the last few weeks.
First I made a fleece tie blanket for my niece. And with the left over fleece I put together this toque and mitts to go with it. The picture quality is awful (sorry!) I got the idea and took tips from this tutorial for the blanket. And I used a tutorial for the hat and mitts that currently I can't find, but when I do I will link it.
I've also made a couple of aprons. One from a thrifted bedsheet and another one with a unique design that I am quite proud of. Once I have a couple pictures of them I will post them.

I also used the diaper pouch tutorial from Jan Andrea to make these pouches. One for my sister and one for my sister-in-law. I increased the size of the pattern given though and turned the velcro the opposite way then in the tutorial.

Pay It Forward
So I have joined Kerry's Pay It Forward. Keep reading for all the details.
So, how does this work?
Well, for the first 3 people who will post a comment to this post, I will make you a lovely handmade gift each.
But, you must have a blog yourself, and be willing to pass the 'pay it forward' concept on. So you will then have to put it on your blog and make three gifts for other people.
Let's spread some happiness and have some fun!
So the rules state that I have 365 days (ample time!) to make a gift in. I'm more th
an happy to send something internationally - so everyone can be involved!!
What better way for everyone to join hands around the globe and share our crafty goodness!!!So... get typing, leave a comment and even if you aren't in the first three... it doesn't hurt to start your own chain of PIF's
So, I wonder who will be my 3 PIF recipients???
Leave me a comment if you want to join in the fun.

A New Hobby
After my wedding the beginning of October I began to wonder what I was going to do with all my spare time. Now that I wasn't planning a wedding and the thank yous were all done there would be all kinds of time to find a new hobby.
Well my mind turned to Christmas and gift ideas. I thought to myself that it might be nice to make some of the presents this year. I turned to the internet and started searching for ideas. When I stumbled upon all the amazing craft blogs there are out there. I got some great ideas so I decided to dig out the old sewing machine from the basement and see what I could do.
I've done a bit of sewing here and there throughout my life but this time it was different, I was making things I really enjoyed and that I was proud of. I kept searching for different ideas for new projects and found a host of amazing blogs. I liked them all so much I wanted to start one of my own. Also it seems there is an amazing community of crafting bloggers that I thought might be fun to be a part of.
So welcome. I'll be posting about sewing, crafting and life in general. I'm excited about the opportunities ahead.
