They're Here (actually they've been here for awhile)

Well it's been almost three and a half months since my babes were born.
Bredan and Morrigan arrived by csection March 31st at 8:09 and 8:10 in the evening. They weighed in at 7lbs 2oz and 5lbs 9oz respectively. They were perfect in every way. We were able to leave the hospital three days after the babes were born.
The first few weeks at home I had my parents here to help and it was amazing to have their help, especially with me having to recover from surgery. I couldn't have done it without them.

Five days old

The last three months have been busy but we've got our routine all worked out now and we are having so much fun. Bredan and Morrigan sleep for 8-10 hours at night already and go down really well for all their naps. I couldn't have asked for two better babies. They are growing really well too, Bredan is almost 14lbs already and Morrigan is nearing 12lbs.

Bredan and Morrigan have been smiling at us for awhile now, but just in the last week or so have even started laughing. It's amazing. I can't wait to see what lies ahead for our family.

Still Waiting

I'm 36 weeks and five days pregnant today. These babies could come at any point, but I have a feeling it might be a few days yet. They seem pretty comfortable. I, on the other hand, am not so comfortable. I waddle like a duck, it's actually quite a sight.

So I'm playing the waiting game here. Waiting to go through what I know will be the biggest change of mine and my husbands life. Waiting to meet Baby A and Baby B. We are so looking forward to meeting these two little people and seeing what kind of people they will grow into.

Update

Well things around here have been busy. I have gotten a small amount of crafting done, and since this is supposed to be a sewing blog I will show you that first.

I have two beautiful nieces that have birthdays in March, and since the babes I'm currently cooking will probably arrive sometime in March, it was time I got working on birthday presents because soon I will have my hands very full.

So I found an easy tutorial for a birthday crown here. This crown met my need to do something handmade but something that was quick and simple, as my energy is limited. My supplies were limited so it's not a cute as I had hoped, but still it fits the bill.

So my beautiful nieces will get to be princesses for their birthdays. But really they already are.

I've also been slowly working on a knit blanket for these babies that are growing inside me. It's slow going but hopefully I'll have it finished before they arrive.

So if you have been wondering what else I have been doing with my time the following pictures will show you well.

I've been reading, reading and reading some more. Books on pregnancy, childbirth, twins and breastfeeding. At the same time I've been growing two babies. It's been an amazing experience, and a surprisingly easy pregnancy. My OB figures I'll deliver this duo sometime between 36 and 38 weeks, so that would be between March 13th and the 27th. I'm hoping the babies can wait until after the 19th, that way my friend, who is also our hypnobirthing instructor, will be available to be in the delivery room with us, to support me in my quest to deliver these babes as naturally as possible.

So this blog will most likely turn into a family themed blog. Because I'm sure this pair will keep me very busy and there probably will be limited opportunities for crafting. So bear with me, hopefully I'll be back to crafting at some point, but really who doesn't like pictures of babies.

Great News

Well I've been very absent here the past months. I've been meaning to write another post since mid September but just never felt up to it. That and I haven't been making anything recently so I felt that I did not have much to share.

But really there's lots to update on...

Bull and I found out the beginning of August we were expecting. We were ecstatic to say the least! We managed to keep our secret from everyone until the end of August when we were 8 weeks along. On Bull's birthday we told the family that we were pregnant.
A few short weeks later at our 12 week ultrasound the technician let us know that we were expecting not one baby but two! We were shocked, but very happy about having twins. As a fraternal twin myself I knew there was a chance we would have twins but I never expected it to happen, especially not on our first pregnancy.

So that's where we stand right now, I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant with our boy/girl twins. The pregnancy has been a relatively easy one. I was tired for the first four months or so but my energy has returned now. I'm getting bigger by the day but I am still feeling good.

My crafting has been at a standstill since the summer. I just didn't have the extra energy this fall. Since my energy has returned I've been focusing on getting the nursery (affectionately renamed the 'Bull Pen') ready, reading up on pregnancy and twins, and trying to get Christmas shopping and baking done. I've had good intentions to get some crafting in but as of yet it has not happened.

Hopefully once we get over the holidays I'll have some time and energy for a little crafting for these two new additions we are expecting. I've got yarn that would make beautiful blankets, or there's always lots of project opportunities in sewing for babies. Hopefully these babies will have a couple handmade things made by Mom. If not, I know Grandma H will pick up my slack and have all sorts of goodies made for them.

Update: I dusted off the sewing machine today after I wrote this post. It was necesary as I had a broken dog leash that needed to have the handle loop sewn back together. Also I fixed a couple dog harnesses for a friend who dog sleds as a hobby in the winter. I think I'll leave the machine out, maybe I'll get inspired!

WOW

Well, it's been ages since my last post. And there has been some crafting, but really not too much. And I don't have any pictures to prove any of it.

So what have I been up to?
Mainly spending time outside, reading and relaxing and enjoying the nice weather. I will entertain you with a few pictures from a camping trip we took.

Tenting with 2 dogs = a learning experience.
We still had a good time though.

It's been way too long since I've posted. I have a couple things to show for my time away but not much. I need to take a couple pictures and I will have a new post soon.

Honestly, I haven't been completely idle

So much for my good intentions about another post is less than a week.

I will make it up to you by posting lots of pictures (keep in mind my standard of lots of pictures may be different than yours)

Lets start off with some knitting.

Practicing a diamond stitch on a dish cloth.

I've been trying to see if I can knit a pair of baby legs. I've got a model coming over this weekend so we'll see if I'm anywhere near close to the right sizing. I really like this sock yarn. It's uber cute. I decided to just knit these straight across and them seam them as opposed to knitting them in the round. We'll see whether I regret that decision soon enough.

This skirt I made yesterday, it's an elastic waist A line skirt. I followed the directions in the book Sew What Skirts to make this simple but cute skirt. I picked up a meter of this fabric almost two months ago. If I had known what length of skirt I really wanted to make I should have picked up one and a half meters. Since I was a little shy on fabric I decided to finish the hem with bias binding instead of heming the bottom up another inch. The hem sits just above my knees so it's not by any means way to short, I would just prefer another inch or so.

I think it looks fairly cute on, but I don't have any full length mirrors in my house so I can't be sure. I will have to post a picture at some point when I can have someone take one of me in the skirt.
